Greetings, first anniversary
of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Trading, Inc. (MTI) founding
Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Trading Incorporated (MTI) celebrates its first anniversary on October 1, 2021. It was a difficult integration process while the activities were limited by the COVID-19, but we made it without major trouble.
Although the business contained diverse aspects, it was generally strong, and MTI started well. As remote work and remote studies were widely adopted, telecommunications equipment materials and semiconductor chemicals performed well. Sales of cars were also growing worldwide as a means of avoiding public transportations, and engineering plastics, transparent sheets for LCD screens, paint materials were strong. Chemicals for wind turbine of power generation in China also increased steadily. On the other hand, there were oxygen absorber Ageless®, which struggled due to a sharp decrease in inbound demand, and paper chemicals, which are on a downward trend in paperless movements, but in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2021, both sales and profit were significantly higher than planned.
MTI was born as a trading company that is rare in the industry that handles almost all products of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC), the parent company. With access to a number of advanced core technologies possessed by the MGC and MGC Group, the system for creating new products and technologies has been strengthened through active interaction with researchers and engineers at each company. By combining MTI's marketing power, we will pursue a unique and differentiated business model that is unrivaled by other companies and contribute to society.
In order to strengthen marketing, we employed multiple digital tools at the beginning, and founded a Business Design department to make effective use of them. The organization is made up of mainly young people from 10 sales groups, general affairs and systems, and actively engages in study and exchange of opinions for the use of digital tools. Several managers, including myself as president, have joined in, and it is also a place where people at the forefront and management can frankly discuss. By expanding these activities, I feel that we can become an open and highly agile organization. In addition, we would like to strengthen activities to "connect" people, technologies, and information at a high level, both internally and externally, and make it an organization that can create innovation continuously.
The company organization grows with people, and the growth and happiness of employees is also an important purpose. By creating an environment where employees can work happily, we hope to further grow and, as a result, meet the expectations of our stakeholders.
